Mike Rowe, host of Discovery Channel show "Dirty Jobs", was on location in Sarasota Archetectural Salvage filming for a special to show that aired the end of February! Check local listings for re-runs and keep an eye out as he parodies with some of our favorite merchandise!

"We were on the road, doing segments for Dirty Jobs in Florida, and needed a studio for shooting trailers, leads, and transitions," said David Barsky, producer, ?Sarasota Architectural Salvage offered dozens of unique backgrounds and a cornucopia of interesting items to use as props.???
The production company for The Discovery Channel contacted Jesse White, owner of Sarasota Architectural Salvage, after getting a glimpse of the store on their website. ?Dave Barsky said that even from California they could tell it would be the perfect place to tape for the show," says White. "They needed a unique store, so we were a great fit."
Sarasota Architectural Salvage put its own stamp on the show by presenting the host and film crew with a historic sign featuring the "I worked with a local woodsmith and artist, Brian Kach, to create a sign from salvaged flooring recovered when the commercial building, located on the corner of Lemon and First Street, was demolished last month," says SAS Store Manager, Shawn O'Malley. "It was a real honor to incorporate our mission and recycle while putting a national spotlight on a great piece of Sarasota history! Mike (Rowe) was thoroughly impressed!"
Taping for the Discovery Channel series lasted an entire day and is tenativly scheduled to air in late February. Customers shopping in the store were intriguied and surprised to witness the production of such a popular show.
"It's so cool to see someone known internationally right here in our town, especially when it's someone as funny and down-to-earth as Mike Rowe," replied Gary Simmons, SAS customer and Sarasota native. I can't wait to watch the show and be able to recognize all the neat things from the store!???
